Art and Yoga In Vieques, Puerto Rico

Join us practicing Yoga in the mornings and Meditation in the late afternoons. During the day students can travel the Island and visit its beautiful beaches. The Island is about 8 miles at its widest and about 22 miles long.  There are wild horses on the island and its not unusual to see locals riding bareback through the center of town. There are plenty of photo opportunities to be had on the island.  Exotic flowers and birds are everywhere. Puerto Rico is American Territory. You can use your dollars and most people speak at least some English. 

 

Two thirds of the island are controlled by the Department of Game and Fisheries. Many of these areas are nearly pristine. Vieques has one of the healthiest mangrove forests in the Caribbean. We will take a trip through the mangroves, snorkel on a secluded beach, then have dinner as the sun sets. After dinner we will paddle back across a bioluminescent bay. Paddling across you will see steaks of light where fish swim through the water. Hold the water in your hand and it looks like liquid mercury.

 

This island is like a time machine. Very little development has occurred here in the last 30 years. There is only one chain hotel on the Island. Its so secluded that we will never see it unless we seek it out for the casino. There are many New Englanders who have bought homes on Vieques.

Come to Vieques this year and for many years to come.
